Getting in Shape

I have once again set out to get back in shape after baby #3...who is almost 2!  But, I am the most motivated this time with both diet and exercise so hopefully I can drop this last 10 -15 pounds. Last week I ran 3 days and went to Zumba 2 days so I am off to a good start.

But more then talk about the weight I need to lose I want to highlight a friend who has already lost a lot of weight. I met Cherie because we both lived in the same apartment complex and we both had beagle puppies. We spent so many evenings talking outside while our beagles played. Yes we had puppy play dates!  Anyway, Cherie pretty much decided one day to lose weight and has lost 247 pounds...ALL ON HER OWN. You have to check out her blog CJ's Low Carb Corner to see her amazing progress, make sure you scroll down to see her comparison pictures and drop her a note of encouragement as she is so close to her goal weight.

The story of our Garden...Attack of the Green Horn Worms

Tim brought in this "cool caterpillar" to show the boys one night. He happened to make the comment: "This is probably a monster that could destroy my garden".  He said it somewhat jokingly but with a little concern. So, I decided to google it and found he was right. These suckers will eat an entire tomato plant in about 24-36 hours.  So, we went out with flashlights and sure enough there were a couple others and the plants they were on looked horrible. They eat all the leaves off, leaving stems. We got them off in time to save the plants but we still check every night to make sure our garden won't be eaten over night.

By the way these suckers are MEAN. The kids couldn't even hold them because they fight and try to stab you with their horn.

The story of our Garden...In the Begining

Here is a long overdue post of our families on-going project.

It all started last fall when Tim suggested we start a garden. I was thinking: Great we will talk about it next spring...and hopefully by then we will have forgotten about it. Well, it was like a week later and we broke out a much bigger garden then I had in mind.  I have been skeptical but this has been the BEST project for our family and it has been so much fun!

Fast forward to Spring...and we were all working full force on the garden. There was preparing the soil (I never knew plants were so picky). Building a fence to keep out any furry neighbors who might invade, and of course planting. We planted some things from seed and some things from started plants. The boys really looked forward to seeing what the Burpie boxes contained that showed up on our door step.
