Boys, Boys, Boys

This last week I feel like I have been fully initiated into the world of the queens. For those of you who don't know the queens is a group of moms who have boys & only boys. I have read their stories since Kaden was born and thought seriously how different can boys really be? There stories almost seemed like the ones from the hardy boys. Then I experienced this week and know the stories are real and when they write books about boys they are probably based off real life experiences not just fiction.

Last week Tim was watching Kaden while I played Bunco. When they came home he told me Kaden had jumped off the landing of the stairs and hurt his foot. I really didn't think much of it. The next day he couldn't walk. I either had to carry him or push him around in the stroller. We couldn't tell that anything was wrong and the next day was better so on with life we go. Four days later we realized he was walking on the side of his foot with his toe turned in and not participating in activities like he should be. So we went to the PA and she said it needed to be x-rayed. So we went to the hospital and as I was going through the admissions process and they asked what happened when I told the lady she looked up and said "so just being a boy". And then it hit me. Yep, exactly. The good thing is there weren't any fractures it was just a bad sprain.

Fast forward 2 days later. Kaden and Jack were ready for bed and Kaden suggested we watch a few minutes of Alvin and The Chipmunks. It was still a little early so we agreed. First of all I should have thought how hyped up that movie makes them and how it is not a part of their normal bedtime routine. etc. But anyway we already established I won't be the mom of the year this year. We were all four sitting there and a song comes on Kaden & Jack both stood up and started bouncing, which led to bumping into each other, which led to Kaden pushing Jack. It was one of those things both Tim and I saw coming but couldn't stop. Jack fell off the couch and hit his forehead on the coffee table. I picked him up and immediately knew it needed stitches. It was gaping and the blood was pouring out. I mean there was no question. So much screaming (from Jack) and two stitches later everything is better. I will have a picture soon. Our Internet has been down for over a week now so as soon as it is back up I will have to share!

So in less then a week my oldest had x-rays and my youngest had stitches. Wow, if this next one is a boy (which I think it is) I may need anxiety pills. Oh, and I am going to start Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover so I always have a fully funded "Emergency Room Fund". That is going to be a big fund if we are visiting a few times a week!

So here is to all the other Queens out there. Wear your tiera proudly you deserve it!

Easter Egg Hunt

I know this is a little late...

Our Sunday School class had an Easter Egg hunt a few weeks ago. I didn't get to go because Jack got the flu the night before - which then led to a chain reaction at our house. Anyway, I sent Tim with the camera but of course he didn't get any pics. A friend just sent a picture of the kids with the Easter Bunny and I had to share. You have to look close to see Kaden. He was terrified of the Easter Bunny she just happend to catch him walking out the door in the background while all the other kids posed with the bunny.

A trip to the Zoo

On Monday we went to the zoo with some friends. It was a little cold which actually made it a really good day at the zoo. There wasn't hardly anyone there and the animals were really active, especially the Gorillas! One of the families has older kids (6th gr., 4th gr. and Kind.) who had the day off school. I don't know how much fun they had but they were so much help with the younger kids and the kids loved having so much attention from the big kids!!! I would take them with me anywhere and anytime they want to go.

Jack was sooo tired at the end of the trip. He fell asleep in the car and stayed asleep even though I put him back in the stroller and shopped for about 1 1/2 hrs. I can never move him asleep and have him stay asleep!

What I was doing 10 years ago:

Spring 1998 - I was a junior in High School. I don't know probably getting ready for Prom, cheerleading tryouts, and running track. Just enjoying life as a teenager.



Five things on my To Do List today:

1. Pick up the house - over and over again.

2. Put away laundry.

3. Finish sewing Kaden's leaves up over the windows.

4. Meal Plan for the rest of the week.

5. Read for our Marriage small group tonight.



Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

Exactly what I am doing now! Except we would travel more -definately would be on our way back from San Antonio today! Hopefully my husband would work less and I would spoil myself more often with spa days.



Three of my bad habits:

1. I let my workout routine slide.

2. I spend too much on clothes for the kids and I.

3. I love junk food, sweet or salty.

5. This is sad but that is it! Actually #5 would have been Flower Mound Texas - proof that God is in control!



Five jobs I’ve had:

1. Picking vegetables at Fincham Farms as a kid.

2 CNA at an Parkwood Village - assisted living - Great Job.

3 Cleaning in the dorms in college. Why did I did this I have no idea. I guess when you don't have financial aid there aren't a lot of campus jobs you can get. I quit when I got mono.

4 Substitute Teacher

5. Stay at Home Mom - by far the best job I have ever had!

We are the Champions!

I can't believe KU won. First the win against North Carolina - now we can truly love Roy again after a little revenge. I was content with that win and anything else would just be just icing on the cake. Then in the game against Memphis we were in it and then not then just when I thought the game was over and KU lost it seemed like out of nowhere we were going into overtime! Amazing down to the end. Now we just have to keep Bill. Come on KU surely you can scrape together a "little pile of money" to keep him.

Of course the kids got to stay up to the end. Way Way past their bedtime but I knew they wouldn't sleep with all the excitment. I hope Kaden isn't falling asleep in preschool this morning!

1) My husband is the youngest of 3 BOYS.
2) My dad is from a family of 3 BOYS.
3) My mom grew up with one sister and 5 brothers.
4) I, of course, am the odd ball and have 1 sister.
5) I have been a lot sicker & a lot more hormonal with this baby then with the other two.
6) In the beginning my gut feeling was girl but now I am definitely thinking boy.
7) At my 12 week sono the tech guessed boy however through posting my sono pics online for other techs to look at. They all claim that is ridiculously too early to guess gender and the odds she was right are 50%. They even claim 15-17 weeks are tricky for gender guesses and mistakes are often made even then.
8) My husband thinks it is a girl and he was right with the first two.
9) If this is a boy - it will be my grandma's 7th great grandson in a row with no great granddaughters!
10) Kaden was praying for a girl baby for months before I got pregnant.

We should know in about a month!
