Update...

I thought I should wrap up some loose ends. First of all, we took Kaden back to the audiologist and got great news. The medicine did the trick and his hearing is normal in both ears. So, we were pretty excited about that. We will just make sure his hearing gets checked every year.

This next part I just wanted to share but also record so I will always remember.
After Kaden's first day of preschool I asked him what he learned.
His response: "The bible is a special book."
Tim asked him what he learned.
His response: "if there is a fire I go stand by the tree."
I always wondered what kids picked up that first day. Now I know. It looks like he learned a variety of information.

Later that day he said. "At p-cool I colored on a bible" We asked if he got in trouble and he said no. Later we realized they colored a picture of a bible. Thank goodness!
Well, it should be interesting to see what he learns in his second week of school!

Milestone Day!

Well, we are back from our vacation. More to come on that later. Today is a big day for us. Kaden started preschool and Jack turned 11 months. Kaden was so excited to take his backpack and school supplies. He went right in and sat down in his chair. Even though several other kids were having a hard time with their parents leaving Kaden wasn't nervous at all. When I picked him up he told me all about his day, the papers they did, and what he played with. He is very excited to go back on Thursday.

Jack is now another month closer to the big 1. He can now stand by himself for a short amount of time and is getting braver while he is cruising around things. It won't be long and he will be walking!

Pictures to Start the Week!

So, Kaden found an ink pen this afternoon and came and told me he drew a picture for Jack...and it happened to be on his face! Oh well, Jack didn't lose an eye and it wasn't on the wall so no harm done.

I want to be a Cowboy

Aunt Kristen got Kaden Cowboy boots and a belt for his birthday. So even though it is like 100 degrees out Kaden insisted on being a cowboy.

Audiologist Appointment

We took Kaden to his appointment today (See Catching Up Thread from yesterday). It turns our his hearing is normal in the right ear. However, he is not hearing anything in the left ear. The test showed fluid in his middle ear. So, he is going to take a decongestant for a week and then go back for a retest on Aug. 20th. The Dr. said he is not concerned at this point. So we will see. Hopefully, the decongestant will be all he needs. I am really glad this was found so we can get it figured out right away.

I have always been a fan of early childhood testing. However, I had kind of put off taking Kaden because I knew he wasn't behind so I didn't worry about it. I now really understand the importance of screenings and would recomend all of you with children go to them even if you aren't worried about their development.

Uh- Oh They have joined forces....

Here is what I caught the Boys doing. Oh and Kaden got the Gerber Puffs out himself then dumped them all on Jack's Tray.

Kaden: "Hey Let's throw them all on the floor so mom won't be mad that I dumped out the whole jar."

Jack thinking: Uh-Oh she knows the plan. Quick put on the cute innocent baby face. Kaden will be is so much trouble!

We are starting to see the boys join forces. For example, Kaden can open the baby proof cabinets. So, he opens them and Jack throws everything out! I am going to have to come up with a differnet plan in child proofing that Tim will still be able to operate! (Mostly kidding about that last part!)

Catching Up

Well, I realized even though I have been blogging a lot I am still behind. I haven't posted about Kaden's birthday (still waiting on the pics - Kristen). And I am still trying to put together a video about our vacation. It takes forever when you are trying to learn something new! Anyway here is what we have been up to as well as some pictures:

Preshool Screening: I took the boys to a screening yesterday. Jack is doing everything he is supposed to do. Kaden is right on target and even scored pretty high in language and concepts which is exactly how I would have predicted his testing would turn out. However, he failed 2 hearing tests. So, we are going to an audiologist tomorrow. I am not too concerned becuase I think it would be rare for a child who is doing so well in the language dept. to have major hearing problems. But, we will see and I will keep everyone updated.

Jack wasn't too sure of the carosel.

Dragon Roller Coaster: Kaden was almost big enough to ride so they let him. When the ride first started he buried his head and had this terrified look on his face. I thought he might start crying but by the end of the ride he was smiling. (He is the one in the middle - about 4 cars back)

Kaden loved the boat ride. Tim even rode once with Jack. Jack loved it too.

Watching the Demo Derby. It was pretty hot so we watched the first round then went to look at the animals.

We all got to ride the ferris wheel. It is always fun to see the view from high up.
I had to go in the Fun House with Kaden. It is a good thing because he got scared on the swinging bridge. I had to drag them up it. The funny thing is at the end there was a really fun slide. So of course he wanted to go again. But, we distracted him with another ride. I didn't want to drag him up again kicking & screaming.

Tired Boys! Ready for Bed.

We got our lab Sydney when Kaden was 4 months old and so they have kind of grown up together. She loves him! Sydney takes a nap with Kaden every afternoon either on the end of his bed or right next to it. So Sweet!

My Yay List

This idea was stollen from my friend Lori, who has so many amazing ideas.

1. Yay for Story Hour - Kaden had such a good time this morning and Jack and I got to go for a nice quiet stroll.

2. Yay for Girls Night Out- Tuesday night was Bunco night. My chance once a month to relax and recharge. After all the late nights Tim has been spending at work this was much needed.

3. Yay for Fresh Fruit - A truck loaded with produce was in an accident not far from here. Somehow we ended up in the chain that received a bunch of stuff. By far our favorite has been the peaches. So yummy!

4. Yay for Harry Potter - I am enjoying the last book. I am not finished so no spoilers please. The author is amazing. She is so talented. She seriously has got to have one of the most imaginative minds of all time.

5. Yay for the fair- We are going to the fair this week. The kids, yes even Jack, are so excited. Their excitement is contagious!

6. Yay for my parents getting to travel - My parents retired this year and they are on their first trip to Europe. They are enjoying the sights in Germany. We are so happy for them.

7. Yay for Blogging - This is my 20th Post! It's nice to be able to share our adventures with our family & friends. And I love reading our friends blogs. It makes me feel like we see our friends & their kids all the time, when really we don't.

8. Yay for Jack turning 10 months - He is in to everything. Unloading cabinets, unrolling the toliet paper. You know all the good stuff. Yes, he sometimes I want to scream but it also shows he is developing like he should.

9. Yay for sunshine - After, weeks of rain. It is so nice to have sun!

10. Yay for the 3 boys in my house - Yes, my husband included! It seems like everyday I am surprised by some kind of "boy" moment. It makes things fun!

And so these are the things I am thankful for today! Thanks Lori- you are right making a list makes you realize how blessed you are.
