Pumpkin Patch 2010

Our Sunday School class goes to the pumpkin patch every year. After several years of very cold, windy, and cold weather we decided to go early this year. I am so glad we did. The weather was BEAUTIFUL. It was a great afternoon of fun and fellowship. 

Show us your life - Kitchens

I love our kitchen. It isn't perfect and there are some things I would love to change...like the white appliances.  But, I still think this room is so cozy and I like being in it, which is good because I spend most of my days in between the kitchen and laundry room.

Through the door you can see into the laundry room. One of my favorite parts of the kitchen is my bulletin board. It is so nice to have all the boy's school and soccer schedules right there.

And our pantry. There deep shelves on both sides but I refuse to take a closer picture because it really needs to be organized...again!

This fruit bowl is one of my favorite things in my kitchen.

So are these flowers. My sister made them for me and they sit on the table when the seasonal stuff doesn't.

Are you creating a haven for your family?

I loved reading Courtney's post this morning. It was such a great reminder that my actions, things I do and don't do are what create the type of home my family lives in. I highly recommend reading her post. 

This weeks challenge is to light a candle every day and as it catches your eye throughout the day to say a prayer for peace for  your home. I will be lighting a pumpkin spice candle in my kitchen every morning and as I make dozens of trips through the kitchen I will be praying!

Two of the things I want most in life is for my boys to grow up loving and serving the Lord and loving and supporting each other. I know that my actions each day can either lead them toward this or not... 

I want to have a home where my family wants to spend time together and can leave relaxed and recharged. I need to be intentionally  cheerful, organized, not to busy, engaged, content, and prayerful. 

What do you need to be to make your home a haven?

Because even good days end in blood

Poor Poor Kyler

Last night the boys were already in pjs and we sent them to their playroom to play a few minutes before bed. The next thing we know. Kyler is screaming and leaving a blood trail. Turns out Jack decided to "workout" so he grabbed a weight and dropped it on Kyler's finger...the one next to his last hurt finger. Thank goodness it was only the 3lb. weight!!! 

The blood on his face was just from his finger.

It looks like his finger tip exploded and was squirting out a ton of blood. Poor poor baby may have to become a lefty since he has two sore fingers on his right hand.

Random Week Wrap- Up

Another week has flown by so here is a little of it in review:

Monday: I love Mondays! A fresh start to the week and back to the routine we seem to somehow lose every weekend. Mondays also start with my Mom's Bible Study Group. We are currently reading "Bad Girls of the Bible". It is funny, and interesting, and comforting to know not all the women in the Bible were perfect all the time.  Monday night also brought with it a new group of girls to study with. We are reading Beth Moore's "So Long Insecurity". We aren't going to meet every week but I am so excited to meet with these girls again, such an awesome group!

Tuesday: Jack went to school so Kyler and I went to Wal-Mart, where I got him these new shoes.

Why didn't I think of this idea? It made it so easy to decide what size to buy. 

Kyler and I also went to toddler time at the library and went for a run. Such a great morning with my littlest guy!

Wednesday: Typical Wednesday.  The little boys played play doh. 

Then after school was Kaden's soccer practice, snack supper, and church.

Friday: *The little boys went to Mom's Day Out.

* Kaden went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch in the morning. 

*Then, I volunteered in Kaden's class for Apple Day in the afternoon. 

* The little boys went to Daddy's office to watch the Homecoming Parade. 

(I LOVE small towns and their homecoming celebrations!)

* We all went to the Soup Supper and Football game.

I wanted a "perfect" picture with the boys. I should know those don't exist. I settled for all of us just being in the picture.

Saturday: The boys slept until 8:15!!! We went to Kaden's soccer game and out to lunch. Now we are home watching football, blogging, and playing. There will probably be hay bale jumping and mum planting later.  I am making potato soup and beer bread - all from scratch for dinner. A perfect Fall Saturday for sure! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as well.

Dining Rooms

I have always wanted a dinning room. You know one that looks like it is out of a magazine. Where I could have people over and use my best china.  Then I had a dinning room and I loved to look at it and it got used occasionally but it wasn't near as cool as I'd dreamed. Maybe because there was lots of dusting, and I was constantly pulling toys and dust bunnies out from under all the chairs and we didn't use it that much anyway.  My boys thought it was a great fort, which means the chairs were always all over the place.  So, anyway, in our current house we don't have a dinning room and I really don't miss it. But, here it is from our previous house. 

I LOVED the dark red walls. The furniture actually belonged to Tim's parents and we were just borrowing it from Tim's brother. I liked it too.

Maybe in a future house, when the boys are older...past the fort age, we will once again have a dining room.

Out of the running for the 7th year in a row...

 Not that the first 9 months of the year were perfect but when you are responsible for your 24 month old's finger looking like this.....

You can't be Mother of the Year. Darn!

I went downstairs to get ground beef for dinner. I knew he was standing at the top of the stairs but didn't see his sweet fingers on the edge of the door. So when I shut it...OUCH! The whole finger nail well past the cuticle was just hanging there. I am not sure which of us cried harder.
